At Comfort Dental of Anderson, we offer sedation services for many different situations. The majority of our patients select oral sedation, however, a growing number of patients are selecting IV Sedation or even General Anesthesia, both offered by an anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist comes into the office on an as-needed basis. If a patient requests IV or General Anesthesia, then the doctor is contacted. The doctor will need a complete medical history as well as a consultation with your primary care physician if you have a complicated medical history. IV Sedation is an excellent choice for dental procedures such as dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, cosmetic dentistry and any comprehensive dental surgery. Our morning patient was concerned about having his wisdom teeth removed. The patient thought he would be too nervous to sit through the dental surgery appointment. I recommended sedation dentistry for his concerns. The dental patient was given a single pill to place under his tongue. The tasteless medicine soon dissolved and the patient was prepared for his dental surgery appointment. He was able to relax and tolerated the dental care very well. After the removal of the wisdom teeth, the patient asked when we would start the dental procedure! He didn't realize that we were already done! Sedation dental care makes going to the dentist a whole lot easier!

I just delivered eight Empress anterior crowns. It was a great example of quality cosmetic dentistry! They looked better than real. The patient was ecstatic! The results of the cosmetic dental care prompted the patient to schedule her entire family for a visit to our dental office.

When all else fails for dental care, try articaine. Whether its dental implants, wisdom teeth removal or cosmetic dentistry; at my dental office we use articaine for the quickest and most profound LA.

Patients can be sedated for dental care. There are broken-down smiles getting worse all because fear of the dentist. But once they get comfortable with sedation dentistry they are on there way to a healthy smile.
Using Halcion is my favorite type of dental sedation. I have the patient arrive at the dental office one hour before his/her dental care appointment. We then administer one halcion pill and to ensure safety, we place the patient on a monitor called a pulse oximeter which measure heart rate, blood oxygen levels and blood pressure. Within a half hour the patient starts to understand why we call it sedation dentistry. They become very relaxed and some people even fall asleep during the dental care. The greatest benefit from this drug is most patients do not remember anything about the dental care or even the dental office itself.

Dental Implants replace lost or missing teeth. Dental Implants are precision-crafted pieces of titanium that are surgically placed beneath the gums to fuse to the jawbone. Dental Implants in effect are artificial tooth roots, to which a new tooth is attached. At Comfort Dental of Anderson, we use Dental Implants to replace one or more missing teeth, to support non-removable permanent bridges for multiple teeth, or to better support a full or partial denture. Dental Implants can be placed with the patient awake however, many patients prefer to have the Dental surgery done with sedation dentistry. In general, patients are amazed the day after the leave the dentist office there is little or no pain. A visit to the dental office can yield some very valuable information. Go visit many dental clinics or dental offices to see what each has to offer. Does the dentist do sedation dentistry? Does the dentist offer wisdom teeth removal? Is the practice focused on cosmetic dentistry or dental implants? It is important to feel comfortable at a dental office with the cleanliness of the facility. If you are not happy and comfortable, keep searching until you find the family dentst that is right for you!
