How many times a day does the family dentist hear this? This one statement shows that Americans are brought up learning that going to the dental office is a "bad" experience. At Comfort Dental, we strive to end that learned fear as quickly as possible. We try to make each visit to the dental office as uneventful as possible. With advances in sedation dentistry, even the most fearful dental patients can enjoy their trip for dental care. From laughing gas to oral sedation to general anesthesia, sedation dentistry can be the right move for every patient. Whether it is tooth whitening or wisdomn tooth removal, you don't have to "hate" the dentist anymore.

Many of my dental patients select laughing gas as a form of sedation dentistry. It rarely makes a patient laugh, contrary to the name. The nitrous oxide usually makes the dental appointment very calm. My dental patient who use laughing gas typically use it for all appointments from teeth whitening to dental implants. It is also the most affordable.

At Comfort Dental of Anderson, we offer sedation services for many different situations. The majority of our patients select oral sedation, however, a growing number of patients are selecting IV Sedation or even General Anesthesia, both offered by an anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist comes into the office on an as-needed basis. If a patient requests IV or General Anesthesia, then the doctor is contacted. The doctor will need a complete medical history as well as a consultation with your primary care physician if you have a complicated medical history. IV Sedation is an excellent choice for dental procedures such as dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, cosmetic dentistry and any comprehensive dental surgery. Sedation dentistry makes going to the dental office for dental care a piece of cake! If you have any questions regarding sedation dentistry, feel free to contact our dental office at drdean@yousleepwework.com.

Many patients come into our dental office to learn about lower denture retention via dental implants. We have been performing this dental surgery procedure for a few years now. It is very predictable and the dental patient loves it. The whole dental office is excited for the patient when they make the decision to have the dental implants. It is a life changing day for the patient when we are able to lock their denture onto the dental implants.

Our morning patient was concerned about having his wisdom teeth removed. The patient thought he would be too nervous to sit through the dental surgery appointment. I recommended sedation dentistry for his concerns. The dental patient was given a single pill to place under his tongue. The tasteless medicine soon dissolved and the patient was prepared for his dental surgery appointment. He was able to relax and tolerated the dental care very well. After the removal of the wisdom teeth, the patient asked when we would start the dental procedure! He didn't realize that we were already done! Sedation dental care makes going to the dentist a whole lot easier!

I just delivered eight Empress anterior crowns. It was a great example of quality cosmetic dentistry! They looked better than real. The patient was ecstatic! The results of the cosmetic dental care prompted the patient to schedule her entire family for a visit to our dental office.

When is the right time to visit the dentist? We get this question many times a week. Patients should visit the dentist twice a year if they are healthy and in excellent oral health. Some patients with health problems like diabetes should visit the dentist for an oral exam 3 or 4 times a year. Some medical conditions can cause the teeth and gums to deteriorate quickly. So more frequent visits to the dental office are required. Also, people who have had extensive dental care such as crown and bridge, dental implants or periodontal treatment should visit the dentist more frequently. You should ask your dentist what the best dental exam interval works for your individual case.

Cosmetic teeth whitening is one of the most popular procedures at our dental office, Comfort Dental of Anderson. Many of our patients request the new Zoom procedure. The procedure is painless and takes about an hour. Teeth whitening is usually the most cost effective way to enhance your smile. If a more agressive ttreatment is required, then procedures such as crowns, bridges and dental implants may make your smile sparkle! Feel free to call our dental office at 765-642-9811 for a cosmetic dental consultation!

Many patients are asking about the new ultra thin cosmetic dental veneers. We have been placing these thin veneers for about 18 months. This procedure lends itself to very conservative cosmetic dental care. Patients at our dental practice are very happy with the results! Many of the patients will start the process with cosmetic teeth whitening to get the rest of the teeth to a lighter shade that we can then match the new cosmetic dental veneers to. Occasionally, patients will request sedation dentistry for the procedure, but it is not required. The cosmetic procedure is very uninvasive and more times than not, doesn't even reqire dental numbing! Cosmetic dental veneers can also be placed in conjunction with dental implants or any other family dental procedures.

I have recently been asked if it is safe to have all 4 wisdom teeth out at the same time. Most people prefer to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same appointment. The risk of adverse side effects, like dry socket, obviously goes up with multiple extractions, however, it is generally very safe to have all wisdom teeth removed at the same setting. Usually the adverse side effects can be reduced or eliminated completely just by following the post operative instructions given at the appointment. Most of my patients choose to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time with the aid of sedation dentistry.

A visit to the dental office can yield some very valuable information. Go visit many dental clinics or dental offices to see what each has to offer. Does the dentist do sedation dentistry? Does the dentist offer wisdom teeth removal? Is the practice focused on cosmetic dentistry or dental implants? It is important to feel comfortable at a dental office with the cleanliness of the facility. If you are not happy and comfortable, keep searching until you find the family dentst that is right for you!

Dental care can be very nerve racking for most patients. Dr. Stratman usually suggests that patients consider the various forms of sedation for their dental care. Forms of sedation dentistry offered at Comfort Dental of Anderson include laughing gas, oral sedation and iv sedation. Most patients having dental treatment for the removal of wisdom teeth and the placement of dental implants usually select oral sedation or iv sedation. The iv sedation offered at Comfort Dental is administered by Dr. Leo Patron. Dr. Patron is a seasoned anesthesiologist. Some patients having treatment as minor as cosmetic tooth whitening may still decide on sedation. At Comfort Dental, its YOUR choice!
